Located southwest of the Boston city limits, Dedham, Massachusetts has historical significance of its own. The city was incorporated in 1636 and is home to the United States' first canal and the first public school supported by taxes. Dedham Country Day School is for students from Pre-K to grade 8. Noble and Greenough School, a coed day and boarding institution, is for grades 7-12. Ursuline Academy is a Catholic girl's school also for grades 7-12.
Home prices in Dedham are, on average, much more affordable than in neighboring towns. According to Zillow reports through June 30, 2016, the median home price here is $423,300, an increase of 8.6% over last year. Prices are expected to increase another 2% this year. The rental index is $2504.
